The NIS Fund's portfolio consisted of a number of successful companies, including: Syktyvkar Forestry Enterprise, a pulp and paper mill; Borjomi, the former Soviet Union’s most popular spring water brand with its source in Georgia; SladKo, a national chocolate and biscuit brand; Burren Energy, a UK oil exploration and production company with operations in Turkmenistan and the Republic of Congo, and Golden Telecom, a telecommunications company concentrated on Eastern and Western Europe.

Past and present portfolio companies of  Baring Vostok Fund II include a number of high-profile medium-sized businesses, such as : CTC Media, a Russian entertainment television network; Europlan, an automotive and equipment leasing company; OZON.ru, a Russia's leading online retailer; Yandex, Russia’s leading internet search engine and web portal; and Lymex Holdings, a regional cement holding in Russia’s Far East.

Fund III’s portfolio includes gas projects in Kazakhstan (Caspian Gas) and Russia Volga Gas; Gallery Group, Russia’s second largest out-of-home media company; Caspian Bank, a leading retail and consumer bank in Kazakhstan; Centre for Financial Technologies, a Novosibirsk-based banking software, payment processing and credit card company; and Enforta, a regional provider of broadband telecommunications services.
